I do not have a special technic or recipe for it. What sounds to me the most important is to first have a positive material situation. If one has to struggle for its surviving, all his mind is taken by crucial material worries and can't go any further. As an artist, I am very sensitive to my human proximity but I better draw my inspiration from nature. Nature means so much to me. There, in all simplicity, I find comfort and peace when my mind or my body can go free walking, swimming or dreaming in the mountains, under the water, or in a pure mental world. Being in direct contact with nature is like being related to a life force acting on the mental as well as on the physical. It is quite sade to witness the degradation of our natural environment. Unfortunately most people have lost contact with their roots and are unable to feel the subtlety and interest of a wild preserved planet for them and the future generations.
For this reason, I appreciate going hiking and meditate alone, as I like remembering my dreams. By period I keep a dream record and then my perception of reality become much wider. The most unexpected can come up.
As many artists, I use natural and artificial artifacts.
A natural artifact could be piece of wood which could be interpreted as a naked woman. An artificial artifact is generally produced by a human hand, for instance a scribbling drawing or a stain could be interpreted as a butterfly. These artifacts are produced by impulse like automatic writing without predetermine idea of the outcoming result, in full freedom.
During my walks, I collect objects (stones, pieces of wood, shells, pictures and so on ...) which I may use in my future compositions. When I look for a new idea, I just step through my collection of objects or scribbling drawing and abstract paintings and pick up few of them to gather in a composition. Also I may use perspective to make things work all together.
Example of creative process The following is extracted from my Art Work show.
Done with transparent glue and ink on transparent plastic shaped into slides and worked with a needle. It produces numerous interesting artifacts exploitable in other context. This type of experiment inspired me the following oil paintings and computer design.
Poems |
Most of my poems have been written without any control of my mind into automatic writing. Words come freely as I am looking at a painting. Some time it may turn into an awaken dream. The experience can be quite strong and drive me into the painted subject which become close to real. One can feel that this type of writing is full of non sans, but at a deeper observation I feel it carries feelings which are usually impossible to describe with words.
